Villa La Falaise

Villa La Falaise

2000 - 2000 · Suisse, Nyon · Administration

This early twentieth century villa located in Nyon, on the banks of Lake Geneva, was entirely renovated to house administrative spaces for the European Football Association (UEFA). Situated in close proximity to the organisation’s main headquarters (by architect Patrick Berger), the villa was transformed and extended to accommodate the following program: individual offices on the top floor, two conference rooms at ground level and an open working area in the newly extended basement. Though the entrance façade was basically restored to its original state, the contemporary architectural language of the intervention is noticeable on the south elevation, which was considerably modified. The perimeter of the basement was enlarged in order to increase the area of work spaces. Natural light is brought in through lateral patios. A new staircase is integrated in a glass volume that opens onto a large wooden deck. The skin of this volume is protected by horizontal glass shades in order to preserve the openness of the façade and the impressive view towards the lake.
